perched right on the Washington coast. The Pilot House blends timeless craftsmanship with
stunning, unobstructed ocean and beach views from nearly every gathering space. This is a rare,
character-filled retreat in a private, park-like setting where the Pacific is always part of the
scene.
The Views
Stunning ocean and beach views anchor the entire home, with the dramatic rock formations of
Point Grenville visible along the shoreline. Sunsets here are magical, painting the water and sky
each evening. One of the three bedrooms offers full ocean views, with daily eagle sightings in the
tree just outside the window. You may also be lucky enough to spot some Northern Lights!
Outdoor Living
The large oceanfront deck is built for gathering: a fire table with seating for six, bistro seating for
four more, and two additional lounge chairs for soaking in the view. Off the kitchen, a side deck
with its own ocean views offers Adirondack chairs and a second fire table, perfect for morning
coffee or a quiet evening. A six-person jacuzzi rounds out the outdoor experience, also
positioned to take in those stunning ocean views.
The Beach & Beyond
A quick three-to-five minute walk down Analyde Gap Road brings you right to the beach, ideal
for razor clamming, kite flying, and other beach activities. Just down the shoreline, you'll find a
state park in Pacific Beach for even more coastal exploring.
Inside the Lodge
The spacious living, dining, and game room makes an inviting heart of the home for groups. The
spacious kitchen features a brand-new chef's six-burner gas stove and stainless steel cookware,
ready for anything from a quick breakfast to a full feast. Below the breakfast bar, are two wine
and beverage coolers to keep your favorite drinks chilled. Outside, a new gas Weber grill is ready
for ocean-view cookouts. Three comfortable bedrooms provide rest after days on the beach.
A Home with History
The Pilot House is steeped in local heritage, and the home itself tells the story of this stretch of
coast:
• The tile “O” outside the kitchen is original to the historic Moclips Rail Station.
• Every stone, geode, and crystal set into the wall was collected by H. C. Hilke, a
rockhound and counselor to the young people of Taholah, and placed by the children of
Taholah themselves. Look halfway up the wall to find a very small child's handprint
pressed into the cement.

• Step out the kitchen door and turn south to find the stump of a great spruce. It fell five
years ago, but once stood 200 feet tall and served as a sightline for vessels heading south
toward the Chehalis River bar. A hand-wrought brass stirrup was once discovered in the
old refuse pile at its base.
• Two very large cedar root masses rest in the woods facing east, said to have been toppled
by the last tsunami some 300 years ago.
• The chandelier in the front room is a vintage 1970 piece from Spain.
• The table before the sofa is a hatch cover salvaged from a C2 WWII cargo vessel.
• The elk rack comes from a packing trip into the upper Quinault, and the whale bones
were a gift from a close friend in Taholah.
• Generations ago, a sweat lodge for the young men of Taholah stood near the bluff above
the beach entrance road.
Location & Privacy
This is a place of true peace and quiet. The setting is extraordinarily private, with no neighbors
in sight, bordered by the secure Navy campground and hotel facility next door. Enjoy one
covered parking spot in a private, park-like setting where the loudest sound is the surf. The
home is just one mile from Seabrook, where you'll find groceries and restaurants, making it the
ideal base for exploring this quiet, storied stretch of the Washington coast.
